Why Boys Ages 9–12 Need Strong Mentors Today
Boys between the ages of 9 and 12 are at a powerful stage of development.
It’s the age when many boys begin forming the habits and beliefs that will shape the young men they become.
They are learning how to:
- build confidence

- handle challenges
- care for their health
- work as part of a team
- treat others with respect and kindness
But in today’s world, many boys are surrounded by screens, distractions, and unhealthy influences, and they often lack enough positive health-oriented mentors and role models showing them how to grow into strong and confident young men.
The Captain Pump Hero Leadership Camp was created to help fill that gap.
Through the Pumpster Hero Challenge, boys are guided to grow stronger physically, mentally, and emotionally while learning habits that support lifelong health and leadership.

Meet Captain Pump
The Mentor Behind the Mission
Captain Pump is more than just a superhero character — he represents a mission to help kids grow into strong, healthy, confident young leaders.
The Captain Pump concept, including the books and leadership lessons, was created by Jasson Finney, a mentor, coach, and storyteller dedicated to helping young people build healthy habits, strong character, and confidence.
The Captain Pump books and learning system are designed for all children — boys and girls.
However, this inaugural Captain Pump Hero Leadership Camp has been designed specifically for boys ages 9–12.
During the program, Jasson personally mentors the boys as they work through the Captain Pump leadership books, workbooks, and Hero Challenge Logbook while participating in fitness training, team challenges, and leadership exercises.
The goal is to help each boy grow into what we call a Pumpster.
A Pumpster is someone who is:
fit, healthy, confident, and kind.
Because real heroes don’t just save the day…
They save the day the healthy way.
What Makes Captain Pump's Camp Different

The Captain Pump Hero Leadership Camp is designed to help boys grow.
This program combines fitness training, leadership mentorship, teamwork missions, and healthy living education into one structured experience called the Pumpster Hero Challenge.
A Leadership Program — Not Just a Camp
Boys learn how to:

A Unique Learning System
The program follows the Captain Pump SEL Leadership Book and Workbook Series, supported by a Hero Challenge Logbook where boys track their progress.
Healthy Living Education
Boys learn practical habits including:
- proper exercise habits
- healthy eating habits
- discipline and daily routines
Small Group Mentorship
Enrollment is limited to 25 boys, allowing for personal attention and mentorship.
What Happens During a Typical Pumpster Session
Each session combines movement, leadership learning, and teamwork challenges.
Pumpster Warm-Up
Boys begin with fun physical training designed to build coordination, strength, and confidence.
Captain Pump Leadership Lesson
Using the Captain Pump books and workbooks, boys learn lessons about confidence, teamwork, discipline, and healthy choices.
Team Missions
Boys participate in Pumpster Team Challenges designed to build leadership, cooperation, and communication.
Healthy Living Training
Sessions include guidance on exercise habits, nutrition, and daily healthy routines.
Hero Challenge Logbook
Each boy records his progress and reflections in his Hero Challenge Logbook, helping him recognize his growth throughout the program.
Pumpster Training System
The boys are organized into five teams of five.
Each team:
- chooses a team name
- selects a weekly rotating team captain
- receives a team color bandana or headband
Teams participate in group challenges and earn Pumpster Points based on:
- Teamwork
- Effort
- Sportsmanship
- Leadership
- Healthy Habits
The Pumpster Team Challenge
Every boy becomes part of a team where leadership, teamwork, and healthy competition come to life.
At the Captain Pump Hero Leadership Camp, boys are placed into teams of five Pumpsters.
Each team chooses:
- a team name
- a team color
- a weekly team captain
Throughout the program, teams work together to complete challenges, earn points, and support one another as they grow stronger and more confident.
What Teams Do
Teams earn points through:
Fitness Missions
Group challenges that build strength, coordination, and resilience.
Leadership Challenges
Activities that teach boys how to communicate, problem-solve, and take responsibility.
Teamwork Missions
Exercises that help boys learn cooperation, encouragement, and trust.
Pumpster Points
Teams earn points by demonstrating leadership, effort, kindness, and positive attitude.
The Pumpster Team Challenge keeps boys motivated, builds friendships, and shows them that great leaders lift up their teammates.

To ensure every boy receives personal mentorship and meaningful guidance, enrollment in the Captain Pump Hero Leadership Camp is intentionally limited
ONLY 25 Boys will be taken accepted. First come, first served.
Each session is designed for small teams of five boys, allowing every participant to receive individual attention, mentorship, and leadership coaching.
With only five teams available, space in the program is limited to 25 boys total.
Once the teams are filled, enrollment will close for this program.
